Aftercare

One of the most important things about any beauty or aesthetics treatment is the aftercare.
Below we have instructions for all our treatments to make sure you have the best possible outcome.

Before Anti-Wrinkle injections, try to avoid alcohol for 24 hours to help prevent bruising. It is common to experience some swelling, tenderness and possibly some bruising around the treated area. These are quite common side-effects and are usually temporary (maximum 2-3 days)

  • Preferably avoid touching the treated area, if this is unavoidable, when cleansing, treat the area gently
  • No strenuous exercise for 4 hours after treatment
  • Remain upright for 4 hours – do not lie down or rest head forward for long periods of time, e.g. no gardening, hoovering, etc
  • Avoid alcohol 4 hours after treatment
  • Avoid rubbing or massaging eyebrows for 24 hours
  • Avoid saunas/hot tubs/sunbeds for 24 hours
  • Avoid beauty salon peel or microneedling facial treatments for 2 weeks
  • Wear a sunscreen daily – helps to reduce/prevent sun damage
  • Anti-wrinkle injections will normally “kick in” at 7-10 days, day 14 at the latest
  • A free review appointment is offered up to 21 days after your initial treatment, which can be cancelled if you are happy with your results after 14 days
  • We are not able to reinject before the 14 days
  • Recommended treatment plan is every 12-16 weeks
  • Immediately after treatment your skin will be pink, redness is expected to resolve steadily over hours
  • Visible results may take between 2-6 weeks and can vary between individuals
  • Cold gel packs/ice may be applied immediately after treatment to reduce swelling
  • Use only recommended products until skin colour returns to normal, then usual skin care may be resumed
  • Avoid makeup for at least 24 hours after treatment
  • Avoid any acid based or Retinol creams for 72 hours post treatment
  • The use of a serum is recommended to support healthy skin repair and boost results
  • SPF 30 or above should be worn daily during the course of the treatment

After treatment, slight redness, swelling, itching and some tenderness at the site of the injections may occur. This is normal and will generally disappear over the next 7-14 days.

  • Keep well hydrated (2-3 litres of water) for the next 3 days
  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours after treatment
  • Apply some ice to the area if tender/swollen – such as an ice pack (no more than 15 minutes)
  • Avoid strenuous exercise and heat treatments for 48 hours
  • Avoid creams with alpha hydroxyl acid or glycolic acid around the area
  • Avoid direct sunlight and wear a high SPF sunscreen to prolong the duration of the filler
  • If you suffer from cold sores, there is a risk of activating them
  • If taking aspirin, clopidogrel, warfarin or any other blood thinning medications you should be aware that there will be increased likelihood of bleeding or bruising at the injection site(s)
  • If itching or swelling occur, a general over the counter antihistamine can be taken for a period of one week
  • Arnica cream/capsules can be taken to help prevent bruising
  • Keep the area sterile
  • Alcohol, smoking and sunshine will reduce the life of the filler

After treatment, slight redness, swelling, itching and some tenderness at the site of the injections may occur. This is normal and will generally disappear over the next 24-48 hours.

  • Avoid alcohol 24 hours after treatment
  • Avoid touching the treated area for at least 4 hours
  • After this, the face can be lightly cleansed and makeup applied lightly and gently (preferably mineral makeup)
  • Apply some ice the area if tender/swollen – such as an ice pack
  • Avoid exercise and heat treatments for 24 hours
  • Massage the area with a moisturiser to reduce any areas that appear lumpy as directed by your practitioner
  • Avoid creams with Alpha Hydroxy Acid or Glycolic acid around the area
  • If you suffer from cold sores, there is a risk of activating them
  • Paracetamol can be used for pain relief but AVOID ibuprofen, aspirin or any blood thinning supplements where possible
  • If itching or swelling occur, a general over the counter antihistamine can be taken for a period of one week
  • Arnica cream/capsules can be taken to prevent bruising
  • Keep the area sterile
  • Immediately after treatment your skin will be pink, redness is expected to resolve steadily over hours

  • Use only recommended products until the skin colour returns to normal, then usual skin care may be resumed

  • Avoid alcohol, vigorous exercise and extremes of heat and cold for 48 hours after treatment
  • Do not use hair dryers for a week following treatment

The following aftercare advice is essential to help reduce the risk of treatment complications, to improve your comfort and to help achieve the best possible results from treatment. Please follow the aftercare advice below:

  • Do not wash or take a shower for at least 8 hours after treatment. Avoid hot baths, showers for the first week
  • Immediately following the procedure, you will note some redness, stinging and burning within 15 minutes to 2 hours after treatment, and later, swelling and bruising which peaks between 6-72 hours
  • Avoid hot tubs, saunas, Jacuzzis, swimming pools, the sea or open water (outdoor) and massages are NOT recommended for 48 hours after treatment. Sauna before treatment can aid to mobilise the fat.
  • Avoid exercising for 48 hours after treatment.
  • The swelling may last for up to 2 weeks, if symptoms persist or other reactions occur, please consult your practitioner
  • Drink plenty of fluids after treatment, you should aim for at least 2/3 litres per day
  • If the area is tender, you can use simple over the counter painkillers such as paracetamol
  • Avoid makeup for 24 hours and any creams or skin oils, this will reduce the risk of infection at the injection sites
  • A cold compress may help with swelling and inflammation
  • Eating a healthy diet and taking regular physical exercise will help to improve fat loss and limit new fat gain
  • Try to reduce alcohol and caffeine consumption to help prevent dehydration
  • Avoid sunbeds, swimming, UV light and saunas until the initial skin redness and swelling has settled.
  • You must seek medical attention and contact your practitioner if you experience any signs or symptoms of infection after treatment. Infection can present as hot, red shiny skin, there may be pus formation and you may have a fever or feel generally unwell
  • You must seek emergency medical attention if you experience any severe allergy symptoms after treatment. Symptoms may include rash, facial swelling and breathing difficulties
  • Contact your practitioner as soon as possible if you notice any other unwanted side effects
  • Your practitioner will advise when further treatment appointments are required. If you are advised to attend a follow up appointment, please make every effort to attend them. You should do this even if you believe that the recovery process is going well and you cannot see that there are any visible complications
  • Anti-inflammatory/antihistamine medication can help
  • Ice packs can soothe and reduce swelling
  • Occasional weeping will settle
  • Crusts will fall off in a few days
  • Clean using luke warm boiled water
  • Avoid alcohol-based cleansers
  • Use sunscreen if out and about
  • Do not cover with plasters or occlusive dressing
  • DO NOT PICK
  • Redness and swelling, bruising and pin prick marks may occur after treatment
  • Swelling may worsen in the first 24 hours
  • Bruising may take a few days to appear
  • Makeup should not be worn for 12 hours
  • Avoid sun bathing and extreme heat or cold for 14 days post treatment
  • Avoid alcohol and aspirin for 12-48 hours after treatment
  • Athletes should be aware that some of the ingredients in the product might show positive in ‘anti-dope tests’
  • Please contact your practitioner if redness, tenderness, itching or swelling worsens after 3 days.
  • The results can be unpredictable and some of the effects can be immediate however, it can take up to 2 weeks for the final results to be seen and the procedure may need to be repeated.
  • Hyalase administration can result in anaphylaxis which itself is life threatening and requires immediate medical attention.

There are important and crucial steps in the entire removal process to be considered, suchi as the skin restoration after removal procedure using MM Tattoo remover. Within 10-18 days, after the procedure the crusts remain on the skin, it is recommended you keep this clean and avoid creams, powders, ointments, gels. Do not touch the treated area as this will lead to the formation of a scar and prolong the period of healing.

  • It’s necessary to exclude alcohol on the day of the procedure.
  • Do not touch treated area, do not scratch or get wet for 6 hours.
  • Apply Tattoo Remover II on the treated area up to 6 times a day, during the first 5-7 days after procedure. Then 1-2 times per day, up to the next removal procedure.
  • Remove previous layer of Tattoo Remover II with a damp cotton pad before each application of next layer of Tattoo Remover II.
  • In case of itching, peeling, redness – use the calming cream around the treatment area 1-2 times a day, until the symptoms disappear.
  • Avoid hammam, bath, saunas, swimming pools, sunbed on the day of the procedure and for the week after procedure.
  • With frequent contact with water, additionally treat the tattoo removal zone with Tattoo Remover II.
  • Store Tattoo Remover II in the original packaging, lid tightly closed in a dark place (cupboard), at temperature 15 to 24 degrees. Do not freeze.
  • Occasional weeping will settle
  • Crusts will fall off in a few days
  • Clean using luke warm boiled water
  • Avoid alcohol-based cleansers
  • Use a suitable SPF
  • Do not cover with plasters or occlusive dressing
  • Avoid touching the treated area
  • DO NOT PICK

Pulling or scratching sensations will disappear within 5 days

  • Gently cleanse the treated areas on the same day but do not rub or massage the face for 2 weeks
  • Avoid opening the mouth too wide for 3-4 weeks (avoid dental treatment for 2 weeks if possible)
  • Stringing, “pulling” pain, or discomfort is normal and will subside over a 2 week period (paracetamol is recommended to reduce discomfort)
  • Avoid taking any anti-inflammatory medication such as ibuprofen, because inflammation is necessary to initiate the new collagen formation process
  • Avoid alcohol and anticoagulant medicine (aspirin, unless prescribed for medical indications) for 7 days
  • Avoid blood thinning vitamins C & E for 7 days
  • Avoid temperature extremes such as saunas or very cold climates for 10 days
  • Avoid physical exercise for 7 days following treatment
  • Avoid having radio frequency (RF) or any heat producing treatment (laser, IPL) around the thread treated areas for at least 10 weeks
  • Do not apply anything to the face (or peeled area) including sunscreen prior to 4 hours post peel application
  • Makeup may be applied after the 4 hour timeframe and application of the first towlette
  • If significant discomfort is experienced when applying any post peel product after treatment, discontinue use and cleanse the face with soap and water
  • The post peel protectant may sting upon application, which quickly subsides
  • Prior to peeling, any areas of pigmentation will appear darker. This change in colour will be most evident on the second day, however it can happen immediately. This is normal and the darker skin will exfoliate during the peeling process
  • During the peeling phase, clients must avoid sun exposure, but still use sunscreen. The client may go out in the sun when exfoliation subsides, but their skin will be more sensitive to UV rays. Apply sunscreen every 2 hours
  • During the week after the peel, the client must use a gentle cleanser, also products in the post peel kit (Post Peel Protectant and SPF 50+ Sun Protection)
  • Refrain from forcing or peeling the skin as it can cause scarring or PIH. The skin will slough when washed morning and night
  • No hot water, warm and cool only
  • Post peel towlettes are a crucial part of the peeling process and must be applied on the first and second days, as they act as a catalyst to the peeling process
  • If itching is experienced, the client may wash the face or take an antihistamine
  • Typically peeling begins on day 3. Days 3, 4 and 5 are the most aggressive days of peeling. By day 6 most exfoliation has subsided
  • After the procedure, gently blot the eyebrows with a damp disc with chlorhexidine.
  • Keep the treated area dry for 24 hours after the procedure. If it becomes wet due to the action of leukocytes or through accidental contact with water, gently blot the skin with a cotton swab dipped in chlorhexidine to remove moisture.
  • On the next day after the procedure, you need to blot the crust with a cotton pad soaked in chlorhexidine and dry using a cotton pad. This procedure must be repeated 2 times and be continued for another 5-7 days, 2 times a day, in the morning and in the evening. Keep blotting the crust with a cotton pad dipped in chlorhexidine until the crust completely converges. Keep the treated area dry.
  • When the brownish crust forms on the treated area of ​​the skin, which naturally disappears after 5-7 days. The treated area should be kept clean, refrain from use of creams, powders, ointments, gels.
  • Do not tear off and pick at the treated area as this will lead to the formation of a scar and prolong the healing period.
  • Do not visit the sauna, solarium and swimming pool. Avoid direct contact with soap or shower water. When washing, use cotton pads, do not get too wet. Do not allow the crust to soften with prolonged exposure to moisture.
  • After the crust has disappeared, redness may be visible on the treated area of ​​the skin, which will be observed on the skin for several weeks.
  • Immediately after the crusts disappear, it is necessary to actively restore the skin with the help of regenerating and healing creams. Apply the cream twice a day using Scar oil, or Bepanthen Plus, Solcoseryl or Dexpanthenol to reduce skin redness and facilitate the process for 2 weeks. If necessary a further 2 weeks of applying the Contractubex or Enamel cream to prevent scars. 
  • It is advised for two weeks clients use a maximum protection sunscreen due to the violation of the integrity of the skin and must be protected from direct sunlight. Pigmentation may occur on the skin if not applied. If the pigment is not completely removed from the treated area, the above procedure can be done again after the treated skin area has healed well (usually after 1-1.5 months).
  • Re-permanent can be applied to the treated area after the skin has healed well (usually after 1-1.5 months)
  • Immediately after the procedure, blot your lips with a damp disc with chlorhexidine.
  • The area of ​​the skin from which the permanent makeup was removed should remain dry for 24 hours after the procedure. If it becomes wet due to the action of leukocytes or due to accidental contact with water, gently blot the skin with a cotton swab dipped in chlorhexidine to remove moisture.
  • In the evening of the next day after the procedure, blot the crust with a cotton pad soaked in chlorhexidine, then dry with a cotton pad. This procedure must be repeated 2 times and continued for another 5-7 days, 2 times a day, once in the morning then again in the evening, blot the crust with a cotton pad dipped in chlorhexidine until the crust completely converges. Keep the treated area dry.
  • A few days later, a brownish crust forms on the treated area of ​​the skin, which will naturally disappear in 5-7 days. 
  • Do not touch the treated area, as this will lead to the formation of a scar and prolong the healing period.
  • Do not visit saunas, solarium and swimming pools. Avoid direct contact with soap or shower water. Use cotton pads, do not get too wet. Do not allow the crust to soften with prolonged exposure to moisture.
  • Limit the use of decorative cosmetics, creams and refrain from exfoliators and chemical peels.
  • Avoid direct contact with soap or shower water. When washing, use cotton pads, do not get too wet. Do not allow the crust to soften with prolonged exposure to moisture.
  • After the crust has disappeared, redness may be visible on the treated area of ​​the skin, which will be present on the skin for several weeks (this is considered normal), gradually the skin will return to its normal state. Immediately after the crusts have disappeared, the skin must be actively restored with the help of regenerating and healing creams. You need to apply the cream twice a day with either Bepanthen Plus, Solcoseryl, Dexpanthenol to reduce skin redness and facilitate the process within two  weeks. After that if there is further redness then it is advised you continue to apply cream for further 2 weeks to prevent scars. Use Contractubex or  Enamel cream.
  • Within two weeks after the crust has disappeared, the skin should be protected from direct sunlight and tanning beds, or use sunscreen with a maximum protection factor. Otherwise, due to a violation of the integrity of the skin, and not due to the effect of the product, pigmentation may occur on the skin.
  • It is advised for two weeks clients use a maximum protection sunscreen due to the violation of the integrity of the skin and must be protected from direct sunlight. Pigmentation may occur on the skin if not applied. 

Additional recommendations for lip care after PMU removal:

  • After removing the PMU on the lip area, be careful with facial expressions, brushing your teeth, eating and having hot drinks.
  • In case of herpes (cold sore). On the day it occurred, it’s recommended to use Acyclovir or Valtrex cream.
  • Remember! Herpes targets only the lips! Procedure on eyebrows and eyelids do not provoke herpes!
  • 3.During the first 2-3 days, it is advisable not to consume hot or scalding drinks and to exclude spicy foods (chillies, peppers, spices, etc.).
  • Refrain from contact with the mucous membrane of partners with cosmetics.
  • Once you’ve had the procedure, it is advised that you continue washing your hands before you touch the lips and surrounding area to prevent contamination. If the pigment is not completely removed from the treated area, the above procedure can be done again after the treated skin area has healed well (usually after 1-1.5 months).
  • Re-permanent can be applied to the treated area after the skin has healed well (usually after 1-1.5 months).
  • You can apply a cool compress to the treatment area (do not apply ice directly to the skin) for 10 minutes every half an hour on the day of treatment if needed
  • Avoid any heat inducing activities for 24 hours such as strenuous exercise, spas, saunas and hot showers as it increases the likelihood of bruising
  • Avoid facials, waxing, chemical peels, skin needling, microdermabrasion, IPL or laser treatments to the area of treatment for 2 weeks after treatment
  • The product is injected in small ‘deposits’, you may be able to see them initially, but they settle usually within hours. It may be possible to feel the product where it has been injected under the skin. Don’t worry this will settle, there is no need to massage
  • If you’ve had Profhilo to your face, makeup should not be worn for 12 hours
  • If you develop symptoms of a vascular occlusion such as severe or dull pain around the eye, face, lips or any place that the Profhilo has been injected, any weakness of the eye or vision disruption or dark discolouration of the skin with prolonged blanching or mottling of the skin within the first 24 hours of treatment then please contact your practitioner IMMEDIATELY.
  • Although the risk of vascular occlusion is very rare, it requires urgent assessment and treatment.
  • Keep the area clean, dry and free from deodorants, make-up, aromatherapy oils or perfumed products for 48 hours
  • Apply an aloe vera or tea tree soothing cream for 48 hours after treatment
  • Avoid sun, sunbeds or tanning products for 1 month; apply “total sun block” factor 30+ for minimum of one month
  • Avoid very hot baths, swimming, saunas, steam baths or heat treatments for 48 hours
  • Do not use any bleaching creams or perfumed products for 48 hours.
  • The treatment area should not be picked, scratched or rubbed vigorously at any point throughout your treatment course.
  • If you are having a body treatment, we also recommend wearing loose clothing on the day of the treatment and up to 24 hours post-treatment.
  • No strenuous exercise/activity for 24 hours.

In order to keep your permanent cosmetics in perfect condition it may be necessary to have a maintenance procedure about every 12-18 months, though this will vary for each individual.

Please remember that the colour is up to 50% DARKER immediately after the treatment. It will start to become lighter after 4-7 days. The true healed colour will not come through until approximately 4-6 weeks after the initial treatment. During the healing process, the colour may have seemed to have disappeared as it is obscured by the healing layers of skin. Under no circumstances should you have any further permanent cosmetics work undertaken during this 4-6 week period.

  • Some itching is normal. Do not pick, peel or scratch the treated area. This may result in the colour healing unevenly and you could also risk scarring and infection. Allow the wound to flake on its own.
  • Do not apply make-up until after 72 hours after the treatment. If you have had an eye treatment, use a new mascara.
  • Do not expose the healing skin to extreme heat, cold or moisture for two weeks following your treatment. This can include direct sun, tanning beds, jacuzzis, saunas, salt water, chlorinated pools, direct shower spray, hot water, skin creams or ointments other than what you have been instructed to use.
  • Do not apply Vaseline type ointments to the area for a week after the treatment. After this time, ointments of this type can be applied and are recommended if you plan to use chlorinated pools and jacuzzis.
  • If you have had a lip treatment, you should also avoid eating spicy and salty foods, drink liquids through a straw, refrain from kissing.
  • Walk regularly for a minimum of 15 minutes to aid the healing process. Take a 15 minute walk immediately following your treatment.
  • No strenuous activity for 72 hours after treatment
  • Wear a compression hose 24 hours a day continuously for 7 days following treatment
  • Avoid hot baths/tubs/showers for 2 weeks after treatment
  • HYPERPIGMENTATION – apply sunblock to those areas if planning sun exposure
  • Medications – do not use aspirin or ibuprofen products for 10 days after each treatment to reduce bruising

         
WARNING

  • In all cases should a vein rupture and starts to bleed it is advisable to immediately elevate the leg and compress the area
  • You should then contact your practitioner or seek emergency medical care immediately
  • Use Aloe Vera gel as long as you have a burning sensation
  • Clean the area with water only
  • Do not use soaps on the area
  • Avoid sun and tanning beds for 3 weeks
  • Do not swim for 24 hours
  • Redness, blistering and scabbing are normal reactions to these treatments. However, if you suspect infection or if you have any concerns; we urge you to send a photo and seek advice from the practitioner who performed the treatment.
  • Keep well hydrated and drink plenty of water for the next 3 days
  • Avoid touching the area for 4 hours
  • Take antihistamine if needed
  • Avoid alcohol for one week
  • Avoid exercise and heat treatments for 2 weeks
  • Ice can be used for swelling
  • Paracetamol can be used for pain relief but avoid ibuprofen, aspirin or any blood thinning supplements where possible
  • Any side effects of the treatment please contact your practitioner within 3 days

  • Do not have any other cosmetic treatments to the area for 4 weeks after each injection. 
  • Avoid UV exposure and wear an SPF-30 minimum. 
  • Most people can continue with normal activities. Some will have some redness, pin prick marks. Bruising is possible. 
  • The product is injected in small ‘deposits’, you may be able to see them initially, but they settle usually within hours. It may be possible to feel the product where it has been injected under the skin. It will settle, there is no need to massage. 
  • Avoid sun bathing, and extremes of heat or cold for 14 days post treatment. 
  • Any bruising may take a few days to appear, arnica can be helpful in clearing bruising. 
  • It is advisable to avoid aspirin and alcohol for 12-48 hours after treatment. 
  • Tenderness should settle as well as swelling and bruising goes down. 

 

Symptoms to report to your practitioner: 

 

  • If redness, tenderness, itching or swelling worsens after 3 days, rather than settling. 
  • Blanching, mottled bruising/redness, or pain (beyond tenderness as you would expect with bruising or swelling).
